Windows 10: Windows Update error 0x8024402f

Hi,

I have successfully upgraded my PC to Windows 10 today. Everything is fine for now (knock on wood) but Windows Update gives me the above error code when checking for updates for first time There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x8024402f) . It starts downloading but after some time it displays this error. Someone experience the same problem?

Same problem here as well... Resetting Didn't help....

 

After trying many tasks from searches (sfc/scan, dism, registry eval, troubleshooter, etc) did a Reset which solved the problem.

 

What you have exactly did to solve this problem?

 

Reset Win 10. (Settings/Update&Security/Recovery)

May be overkill to correct the problem, but it works. I think the problem is caused by a registry error. I googled many ways to correct, but none were successful.

 

Just have done a clean install and same problem....

 

May want to create another ISO and your media may be corrupted.

I've just encountered this error myself. I'm also having an issue where my computer with Windows 10 on it causes every other device in the house to run slow until I turn my computer off. Is this a separate issue from the Windows Update error?

 

I also had this issue on all PCs in my house. Plus I could not see anything in "System/Apps & Feature/Manage Optional Features/Add a feature". The later one because I wanted to add Insider Hub.

CBS.log showed error: [HRESULT = 0x800f0805 - CBS_E_INVALID_PACKAGE]

Anyways on my Linksys Router Firewall I had disabled ActiveX. By enabling that everything worked. It took me a week to figure this out. I hope this helps someone. Also if you wish to disable auto-updates then this is one way to do it. *Eek

 

Hi, i just found a simplest way to fix (0x8024402f) Error *Biggrin
u just simply have to set windows update like this:

Go to Advanced Setting >





Then change Choose how updates are installed settingsto Notify to schedule restart + (uncheck everything under it)





re-Check update, it must be worked *Biggrin

 

I just tried the below with the ActiveX blocked in router settings and it caused a 0x8024402f error. Windows 10 is using ActiveX for there update which caused my 0x8024402f issue. I don't if anything else can cause it.

 

Having just experienced this error on my personal system and solved it I will post my solution here. In my opinion there are several different things that could cause this.

In my case, running windows 10 Enterprise edition and Kaspersky Internet Security. When I manually updated I sometimes saw windows update trying to install an update to windows defender. This stopped before finishing each time and seemed stuck in a loop.

First thing I did was disable Kaspersky internet security temporarily until next reboot. Then I manually opened up windows defender, enabled it (kaspersky disables this on installation), updated defender, went back to windows update and ran it again. Windows Update installed several more defender updates, and eventually I got the message "Your system is up to date".

Then I rebooted the system, kaspersky was back up and running. Ran windows update again, it checked for updates and again the message "Your system is up to date" appeared.

So far everything runs smooth again. Will report back if things change.
