Windows 10: Windows update error code 0x80080005 2004build

Im running Windows 2004 and when I tried to update to 20H2 I've got this error:

I have tried to stop the BITS, Cryptographic, MSI Installer and rename the SoftwareDistribution and start it again as suggested in the the previous build with the same error number but it didnt work. I also tried "sfc/scannow" and "chkdsk /f" so many times and restarts it and it didnt work.


I also tried downloading Windows update tool but it didnt work either. I tried running "cmd.exe /c takeown /f "C:System Volume Information*" /R /D Y && icacls "C:System Volume Information*" /grant:R SYSTEM:F /T /C /L", "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth", and editing the registry "CurrentControlSet/Control" as suggested in some websites but it didnt work either.


I tried to go through troubleshooter but it says "no recommended troubleshooters right now".


I also tried downloading windows10.0-kb4586853-x64 it is suppose to be a 20H2 Offline Installer from Microsoft website and it didnt work either. I dont want to refresh my PC or reformat it using build 1904 image that was bundled on my laptop as I dont want to lose all of my work and going through reinstalling and reconfiguring my development work on this device.


Can you recommend some other way to fix it without resetting or reformat? Does anyone have another Windows 20h2 offline installer?

suggests the error number may occur where one of the OTHER drives has a problem.

Your specs don't say whether you have other drives installed.

Anyway, worth using Hard Disk Sentinel (trial) - the best text summary of such programs I've seen- to check your disks. Failing that check SMART params and do a surface scan with something else.

Sorry? Have you got the correct Tweaking .com's repair tool? Or followed the steps to the end where you actually do the numbered repairs?




- If you had followed all the steps I'd have expected it to take a bit longer.

Of course, you can just go to Safe Mode, launch the program, and directly run the repairs, missing the preparation... not the best of ideas. It's designed to give you ways of going back if something goes wrong by creating a restore point, registry backup... then doing the repairs.
