Windows 10: Windows update error / corrupted files

So I have an issue. I recently decided to get back into World of Warcraft - addons for the game are often managed by a program called Curseforge. When I try installing Curseforge onto my laptop HP Omen running Windows 10 I get a notification saying that it needs ".Net Framework 4.8" with an option to install it. So I run that, then the .Net installer tells me it can't install it due to "The Configuration Registry Database is Corrupt". When I Googled that basically everywhere I read said to run window's updater. So I do that and I have two updates that both fail to install:23020-02 Cumula

Corrupted file RAR

If the archive has been created using WinRAR, why don't you try WinRAR itself? It has a built-in repair feature for repairing corrupted archive (ZIP as well as RAR). Follow the steps given below:

• Open WinRAR application in your system.
• Now click on File tab > Open or simply press Ctrl+O.
• A small window "Find Archive" will pop up. Locate the corrupt RAR archive from your system directory and select it.
• Now click Open button.
• Click Tools tab > Repair archive or simply press Alt+R.
• Again a small window "Repairing File name.rar" will pop up.
• Now click Browse to select a location to save the repaired archive.
• Check the box "Treat the corrupt archive as RAR" and click OK.
• WinRAR will start repairing of corrupt RAR archive. Once it gets completed click Close.

I hope the above steps will help you repair the corrupted RAR archive.

80246002 Error from windows update

I've seen this issue before and I believe that some times it was attributed to something corrupted with the OS. Have you ran CHKDSK C: /F, restarted let it run (or some similar command in CMD) and then SFC /scannow after that to ensure you had no corrupted files.

I also believe that it's a connection error, so try to ping and tracert to Microsoft and ensure that you are getting there.

As mentioned, if your copy is not legit. Try turning off auto updates as well. +1 to the above suggestions.
