Windows 10: Windows Update error when installing January 2021 Patch (0x800f0988)

I know that the update has been released 2 weeks ago, but until now, every single security update has been installed without any hassle, but now with this patch (KB4598242) the installation jumps from 20% to 73% and then fails with the error above.

I tried rebooting and cleaning the PC and I still get the error. I don't want to reinstall Windows because I need to reconfigure all the settings and apps which I don't have time. Is there any solution for this error?

Edit: even manually installing the update gives the error!

Keeps erroring on Installation - gets about 20% through and then errors with the above message.

Anyone got any ideas?
