Windows 10: Windows Update fails on new install with error 0x800705b4

I was having problems with my computer, an I7 processor, 16 gb ram and a Gigabyte mobo. The 500gb drive was failing and when I copied the data over to a new SSD, I received multiple blue screens, like what was happening with the old hard drive. Bad data in, bad data out. I ended up doing a complete install of version 19041 onto a clean SSD.


Before I reinstalled my programs, I did a Windows Update, and from then on, I kept getting the error 0x800705b4. Mind you, nothing was installed on this SSD, there was over 400gb of space, the path to the Internet was clean over 200mbps and I could get to the Windows Update servers doing a traceroute.


I needed to populate the computer with some programs, and tested WU again, with the same results. It did download 4 driver updates, but there are three more that, in the old hard drive, WIndows downloaded all of them and now it doesn't. No other updates were downloaded.


I made sure BITS and TrustedInstaller were running, and I cleared out what little was in the Software Distribution Downloads folder. I tried the Windows Update troubleshooter three times, and it couldn't find the issue. I am at a loss to figure this out.

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time
