  1. Windows Update Fails since Feb 04 2018

    In the queue are KB4074595, KB4088785, KB4074588, KB4093110, and KB4093112.

Troubleshooter alternately states there are updates pending and asks me to install or finishes with all areas check green.

Does not show error I can see, just states it could not finish installing updates.

  2. I have a new intel computer with adequate disk, memory, processor speed. Computer came with Windows 10 64 and update worked fine until KB4074595 failed. Since then all updates have failed and the computer is in the restart over and over mode. My count is five updates require restart and failed. One of them KN4074588 has tried 77 times it would seem.

One of them implied that Microsoft was working on a fix but this may be too many.

What is the best path to return to normal?

    Thanks

    :)

  3. Windows 10, version 1709 update fails at 86% with 0x80004005

Going round in circles on this one. Whenever the Windows Update tries to install Win 10 1709 I get the Something Went Wrong screen with the error code 0x80004005.

I've been trying to get this to work for many weeks, trying various suggestions from the Microsoft Community, but nothing seems to make a difference.

I have run the suggestions on https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10164/fix-windows-update-errors

    - ran the WindowsUpdateTroubleShooter, no improvement

    - attempted to download the lastest SSU but the catalog only has versions for 1709 which won't install on my system as I'm not there yet

    - Downloaded and installed the latest KB KB4077525 but it told me it was already installed

    - Ran DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth successfully

    - Ran sfc /scannow no integrity violations

I've also been running with a clean boot and with Norton Protection disabled. Nothing seems to make a difference.

It looks like there's something wrong with either the Windows Update Process, or the Windows Update Troubleshooter or I would have expected it to work by now.

Looking at the tail end of the Windows Update Log, just before it failed the last time, I see these messages -

getting an error "Class Not Registered" when installing an application

    Thank you for your reply!.

Unfortunately, when I open the dialog I get an empty list:

Searching for a Solution to this, I did found that an In Place Upgrade could resolve the problem. I downloaded an iso image from microsoft to do that and tried to upgrade, which resulted again in a failure.

Following is a copy of the log file of that try:
