Windows 10: Windows Update in Settings not responding

Discus and support Windows Update in Settings not responding in Windows 10 Installation and Upgrade to solve the problem; I have Windows 10 Pro, Versiuon 2004, OS Build 19041.508 When I go to Settings Windows Update, the page shows no information, only the heading.     Windows Update in Settings not responding


    I have Windows 10 Pro, Versiuon 2004, OS Build 19041.508

    When I go to Settings Windows Update, the page shows no information, only the heading. So for example I cannot check for updates, see what updates are pending nor can I View Update History. Usingservices.msc shows Windows Update as "Starting", not "Running". I have tried stopping and starting wuauserv, but that does not work. Bothnet stop wuauserv and net start wuauserv give the same error message: "The service is starting or stopping. Please try again later."

    I see that Windows cumulative update KB4571744 OS Build 19041.488 includes fixing "an issue with Windows Update becoming unresponsive when checking for updates." Is it safe to use the standalone package for this update to try to fix my problem with Windows Update? Does a standalone package for an update require Windows Update service to be running? I have downloaded the appropriate standalone package for KB4571744, but do not wish to apply it without knowing a bit more about doing this.

    Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

    Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

    HyperSLI (Enabling SLI on non-sli motherboards)

    To turn off windows updates in windows 7 follow these steps:

    Click the start button, in the search box type in 'windows updates', click on 'windows update'
    in the search results list, in the left side of the windows update window click 'change settings'
    then in the option bar select 'Never check for updates'.
