Windows 10: Windows Update is disabled, Access is denied when trying to enable in properties.

So i first noticed when trying to download games on xbox app i would get an error message saying it was a problem with the download, and when i looked up the error code it said it was an issue with the windows updater. I tried re installing the xbox app just to get a similar error message in the windows app store when trying to start the download. After some researh I checked the windows updater properties and seen it was disabled, and when trying to set to automatic it said access is denied. need help bc i cant download anything windows related it seems :

LAPTOP is not accessible ..... Access is denied.

I am trying to share a folder on a LAPTOP. I have other a number of other systems that have folders Shared and they work fine, but with this one I get the error "LAPTOP is not accessible ..... Access is denied." when I try to access it from a different Win10 system. So I went thru the entire "How to Share Files and Folders Over a Network in Windows 10" tutorial step by step. File and Print Sharing is enabled, SMB1.0 client & server are running, and Everyone has Full Access to the Share. Still get the error. I have tried it with the Network Public and Private, with the same result. Any suggestions ?

Error Access Denied while acessing the folders from User> AppData folders on Windows 10

I understand the inconvenience you are facing with access files and folders.

Do let us know the complete error code/ error message of this issue?

As you have tried with providing the permissions to each folder and issue persists after the restart, try the below and check if it helps.

Step 1: Try to disable the third party anti-virus software if installed any and check.

Step 2: As, as a work around, I suggest you to enable the built-in administrator account and check if this issue persists.

Steps to enable Built-in administrator.

• • Press Windows + X key together on your desktop screen.
  • Click on Command Prompt (admin) to open Command Prompt.
    
  • Type the following command and hit Enter:

• net user administrator /active: yes (Check for the spaces)

　　　4. Now log off from the current user and try to login to the administrator account that is enabled.　　

Note: Please follow the same steps and type net user administrator /active: no to disable admin account after the troubleshooting is done.　

Step 3: I suggest you to refer to the below Microsoft article with 3-diffrent issues related to accessing the files and folders and check if it helps.

Cannot re-enable Windows Update Service (Access is denied)

For a while I have had the windows update service disabled, as it sometimes caused issues with programs (and it was just annoying). However I have been using some Microsoft store apps and I need windows update to be enabled to download them.

I have tried Running the windows update troubleshooter, however it doesn't detect any issues

Opening services and manually enabling the service doesn't work either - When I attempt to enable the service an "Access is denied" message is shown. Is there a way to get around this?

I used a program to disable the updates, however resetting it doesn't fix the issue.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!
