Windows 10: Windows update is updating the intel graphics drivers and breaking the oem customization.

From owning two gaming laptops for the past 2 years, I can say that windows is automatically updating the intel graphics drivers and this is causing issues with MSHybrid mode. That is the Auto-select mode in nvidia control panel. Because windows is updating the intel graphics drivers, which in turn breaks the oem customization that has been setup by each oem manufacturers. In my case, Acer. Windows developers please manage these driver updates properly and do no update intel graphics drivers unless OEM manufacturers provide the driver update from their end. Update to Windows 10 v2004 Breaks Intel High Definition Audio Driver

Yes, as Dr Soong noted, I've done all that, and the system is up to date per Windows Update and HP Support Update.

HP Support has no solution other than reinstall the OS back to previous version, v1909, or wait months for HP Support to publish updated drivers for v2004.

Intel doesn't appear to have a driver to solve this issue, but Intel drivers come with a warning that Intel drivers are not recommended over OEM drivers.

"Installing this Intel generic graphics driver will overwrite any customized driver from your Computer Manufacturer (OEM). OEM drivers are handpicked, customized, and validated to resolve platform-specific issues, enable features and enhancements, and improve
system stability. Intel’s generic graphics drivers are intended for testing, and we recommend using OEM drivers."

Windows 10 auto updater breaks graphic driver

I am having trouble with my AMD HD6750M graphics card. When I turn the PC on, it boots ok and the login screen blinks and goes black. I've tried to restore Windows multiple times and now I'm running a fresh install.

Everytime I format the pc, it works until I restart (as windows updater downloads the driver for AMD and installs it again). I've even managed to completely remove the display driver with the Display Driver Uninstaller from Guru3d (in safe mode!), and the pc works fine until it downloads the driver again, I restart the pc and it breaks again.

I want to completely remove and disable this graphic card, once I believe it's defective and my pc already comes with a Intel HD card onboard.

And yes, I've already downloaded and installed the drivers from AMD website. It breaks it anyway when installation is finished.

according to laptop support page they do list an old downloadable driver for intel for windows 7 , weather this is related to there being several variants of that laptop or this laptop has switchable graphics i may just suggest you reset the bios and see if things change , if yes you may be able to apply step 2 , if not then apply step 4 and call it today , you are still better off being on the high performance gpu .

Out of curiosity can you take a snap shot from Settings > System > Display. Scroll down and click the “Graphics Settings” ?
