Windows 10: Windows update is VERY SLOW

PROBLEM:


Windows is very slow at signing in and responds also very slowly while interacting with the interface in any way. I am in the middle of reinstalling programs/apps but everything is painfully slow. What can be done?



BACKGROUND


Windows installed some updates overnight and I was not able to uninstall them like I normally do. The update prevented me from signing in it just loaded at after clicking "sign in"forever.



So I RESET my Windows 10 which original to the hardware Acer, not upgraded, kept all my files and had to chose "Local Reinstall" over "Cloud Download" because it wasn't working when I tried to opt for it.


After the reset which took 4+hrsmuch longer then anticipated Windows installed further updates for another 30 minutes.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

• When exactly does the system slow performance issue persists?
• Does the issue confined while performing any specific task on Windows 10?
• Have you installed all the pending Windows Updates and driver updates after upgrading to Windows 10?

I suggest you to try the below troubleshooting steps and check it if helps.

Step 1: Run the System maintenance troubleshooter.

System Maintenance troubleshooter finds and clean up unused files and shortcuts and performs maintenance tasks.

• Press Windows key and type Troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting and hit Enter.
• Click on View all in the left pane of the window.
• Select System Maintenance.
• Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

Step 2: I suggest you to install all the pending updates after upgrade to Windows 10.

Steps:

• Connect to the internet.
• Press Windows key and type
  updates.
• Click on Check for updates.
• Under Windows Updates, click on
  Check for updates.
• Try to install the updates being shown.
