  1. Windows Update Issue

Recently, I've been having issues where all of the following updates are not applying. Either by not installing properly when I restart the PC, or by the Windows Update Assistant throwing an error message at me:

    • Feature update to Windows 10, version 1803
    • 2018-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4338827)
    • 2018-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4457141)

These updates do not install, I can download them via Windows Update in the settings, however upon restarting it informs me it could not update, and must undo the changes.

    Things I've tried:

    • Windows Update Assistant (This reaches 100% before throwing errors 0xc1900204 and 0xc0020036 at me)
    • (This also did something with reinstalling all updates or something like that too)
    • Restarting my PC (Lots)
    • Running windows in safe mode and attempting to install it via that way
    • Checking that the system has enough reserved space on the Hard Drive (It does)
    • Downloading a 3rd Party Program that reset the windows update components
    • Following the advice from another support article - (one where I used various console commands throws an error when I try to rename SoftwareDistribution.old / and one where of setting the module installer to manual is already done / Option 3 (Windows 10 Setup) takes literally years and I'm looking for other help while that does its thing)

In terms of the PC, it is a Windows 10 ASUS Notebook, if you need the exact specification please let me know. The notebook is >3 months old.

    :)

Came here to suggest this.*Laugh

Definitely not an issue with the Windows Servers as I just re-installed yesterday and got all my updates.

It works, but I still need to fix it so that way I dont have to plug computers directly to the modem to get windows update to work. It was also blocking me from installing directx.

If your wireless router has a built in firewall maybe it's somehow set to block the ports that Windows updates use?

I'd also suggest if it works with it being directly connected then you could try resetting your router to see if this fixes the issue.

That's my 2 cents anyways. *Smile Windows Update Issue :)
