Windows 10: Windows Update KB4507453

Again, there are problems with Windows 10 1903 updates.

Yesterday and today KB4507453 could not be installed after several attempts. error code 0x800f0904.

At least error codes are common, although the solution may be more difficult.

this happens to me too and after some tests I realized (in my case) that 0x800f081f occurs when I remove/uninstall edge using install_wim_tweak tool

since I do a lot of tweaks/remove metro apps before connecting a Fresh Windows Install on Internet, I did some tests step by step on VM, formatting/reformatting/etc..

1) Fresh Win install (18362.175) -> Update KB4507453 OK (Build 18362.239)

2) Fresh Win Install (18362.175) -> Removed Apps/Win Tweaks -> Update KB4507453 OK (Build 18362.239)

3) Fresh Win Install (18362.175) -> Removed only EDGE with install_tweak_tool -> Update KB4507453 FAIL. (error 0x800f081f)

So, by elminination, EDGE was the cause of the problem in my case. I'm used to remove CONNECT too with install_tweak_tool, but I didn't test it.

 

Windows update KB4507453 not offered

On the latest Patch Tuesday, I was not offered the Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1903 KB4507453. I followed the instructions in

this thread, I was never offered the update and when I tried to manually install it, I was told that "This update doesn't apply to your computer" or something like that.

My current version of Windows is Version 1903 OS Build 18362.10000. KB4507453's description says that it updates the OS OS Build 18362.239

There is also a strange greyed out entry in my update history. It says:

Cumulative Update for Window 10 Version Next (10.0.18362.1000) (KB4508451)

Successfully installed on 7/3/2019

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Two or so weeks ago KB4501375 failed to install, and this still shows in the Update listing as failed. error code 0x800f0904.

Is the latest update failure related to the KB4501375 install failure? i.e. is the first update required before the second?

during the update, the antivirus product is disabled completely, but not uninstalled. This seems to be a new requirement with Windows 10, 1903. In the past all that was required was to run antivirus in "silent mode" and disable "tamper protect".
