Windows 10: Windows Update kb4551762 and Random HDMI Monitor Flicker

Recently I noticed that a monitor connected to my laptop was exhbiting random annoying flickers and blackouts. Often there is no flicker for 10-15 minutes, then suddenly the screen goes black for 1 second, or sometimes several seconds. Sometimes many of these occur in quick succession making the monitor setup unusable.


I have a HP Envy x360 Convertible 15-cn0xxx.
I have 2 external monitors connected: one monitor connected via USB-C and another monitor connected via HDMI.


Regardless of which monitor or which cable I use I've switched them all around, the flicker always occurs on whatever is connected to the HDMI port, so I'm pretty certain it is the HDMI port and not the monitor or the cable that is the issue. I tried updating drivers for Intel UHD Graphics 620 and the NVIDIA GeForce MX150. Also tried other drivers, like for BIOS and Chipset, all to no avail.


After much trial and error, I suddenly noticed that by uninstalling the recent Windows update kb4551762, the HDMI problem seems to goes away. Suspecting the problem was recurring with "cumulative" update kb4541335, I also uninstalled that one. But how many future cumulative updates will I need to uninstall?


Anyway, while I think I have minimized my problem, I want to share in case there is a better solution.

Monitor flickering when connected to HDMI

I have the Gaming Laptop Acer predator 15, here are the specs:





My issue is that when ever i connect my laptop to a monitor the screen flickers every few seconds or more often when I start a video, for example if I open a new video on YouTube, as soon as the video has loaded the screen flickerers
2 to 3 times before the video starts. The cable and the monitor I use work fine if I use them with other pc.

I did try some suggestions like:

1. Check if your video card driver is updated as well as Windows update.
2. Run Hardware troubleshooter by going to Control Panel
   > search Troubleshooting > click
   View All > Hardware and
   Devices.
3. Use other HDMI cable if possible

but nothing work. I still have the same problem and I did try other monitor and other cable but nothing work.

Any suggestions i should try?

15.6" Full HD (1920 x 1080)

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB of dedicated GDDR5 VRAM

Monitor - (HP Monitor 22es)

1920 x 1080 - 21.5" IPS Display with max 60Hz refresh rate

HDMI and VGA Port

My issue is that when ever i connect my laptop to a monitor i bought recently the screen flickers every few seconds or more often when i start a video, for example if i open a new video on YouTube, as soon as the video
has loaded the screen 2 to 3 times before the video starts. The HDMI Cable i use is the one that was included with the monitor, i am running everything at it's native resolution and refresh rate. I have tried using a HDMI to VGA port, to connect via VGA and
the flickering is taken away but the quality is also reduced, i am a content creator so quality for me is important.

Any suggestions i should try?
