Windows 10: windows update legit or virus?

Couple days I had a message saying update for windows available.

Could take a while and going off and on something like that


It popped in the notification section bottom right of the computer that little screen looking icon When you press that icon was in that section as well.


IF it popped there would be be legit?

I installed it as thought real. Hopefully was.


Thing is yesterday when I logged in was a white screen after login, basic text top left like Times Roman Text, had list like Network then some below, I cant remember them all now, the sliding boxes, could no read it much as small text in small boxes mainly top left, rest of screen kept white. Then had questions which could see well on screen, One had something about enter credit card details which I didnt, then when got out of it went to normal.


Did Windows 10 have a large update couple days ago?


May be 2 different things, real update and the white screen something else.


What is the recent OS Build version, would that tell me if real?

Legit Update or Virus?

Win 10 Home 1803. i already cleared the notification, but it also said something about support ends on a certain date, and update ends on a certain date.



Update - i found this image on google, that's what it looked like basically. like i said, i've never had Windows send me a update notification to my desktop, updates are usually automatic. i get really nervous when stuff like that just pops up out of the blue. you never what it could be, or where it came from

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
