Windows 10: Windows update not working

Hi Reddit, my windows isn't updating correctly, it keeps giving me a error.

So one day, I heard that there is a new update 2021-01. Who doesn't want their computer up to date? So, I went to my check for update section and started updating. But every time it finished installing, it crashes and gives the error 0x80073701. Trust me, I have tried many times, same error, same place it got stuck at.

So, I looked online, people said it was a corrupted windows build and needed repairing, so I did in administrator CMD and typed in sfc /scannow. This did say it has fixed some corruptions but it just can't install right. I ran update troubleshooter and it failed as well.

If anyone knows how to fix this, please help!

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
