Windows 10: Windows update permanently disables all USB devices

Hi.

I have a computer.

That computer, UNFORTUNATELY, has windows 10.


If windows update is allowed to run, this will cause Windows 10 to PERMANENTLY stop accepting USB keyboard as an input device. I have tried checking "power management" in the device manager to make sure Windows isn't allowed to disable USB ports for power saving Which is a retarded function to begin with.


That wasn't the problem.


I have tried literally every single solution, up to & including using a Ouija-board & seance.


Nothing works.


The only thing that can fix the problem is to reinstall winidows, and NEVER have an internet connection, since if there is an internet connection, windows update runs without my consent resulting in a crash. I'm typing this on someone else's computer.


Why have you included a "USB-killer program" in windows 10 cumulative updates?

What do you hope to gain from sabotaging computers?


It's as if you WANT people to switch to Apple.

February Windows 10 Update Causing Loss of USB and Blue Screens!

As posted over at Computer World, the February Windows 10 patch for the fall creators update to version 1709 is causing serious crashes and loss of USB.

When most everyone is using USB ports for their mouse and keyboard, this will render them inoperable.

Best case is to uninstall the Feb update:

[SOLVED] Windows 8.1 Not Detecting USB Devices

It is possible you may need to run VIAO update, after your upgrade to 8.1, to check for new drivers and patches.

Edit: Also, have you gone to device manager and check the item in the menu "show hidden devices".
See if their are any problems, uninstall any usb devices, and their associated listings in the other sections of the device manager that should not be there.

If need be... try GhostBuster to remove any ghosted devices you need/want gone.

You may need to do a refresh of Windows 8.1 as a last resort.

 

USB devices not working after Device Manager spring clean

The USB ports started failing intermittently again and then permanently.

Reinstalled 1703 again and that fixed it for a while then they started failing again.

When I plug in any peripheral it shows up in device manager with the exclamation mark.

I right-click 'update driver'
Choose 'browse my computer...'
'Let me pick from a list of...'
Select the best candidate

Then the device will work. Until it is unplugged and plugged in again...

Then we are back to square one for that device.

Are there any suggestions for kicking the USB hub back to life so it recognises ordinary USB devices like mouses and keyboards without a manual driver update?
