  1. Windows Update pre-election attacks

More Windows update attacks + Google "updater" attacks. 25, that's TWENTY-FIVE Blue Screen full-on crashes, in the past 2 weeks. EVERY ONE OF THEM, directly linked to either Microsoft or Google attacks, to FORCE "updates" on my system. You see, thing is? My computer's FULLY UP TO DATE.If I turn things OFF that are invasive or using too much memory- ALL checked out and approved to be turned off? Why, Microsoft just goes back in and turns them ALL back ON again- EVEN my "DO NOT SHARE INFORMATION" ones. This is not "Malware" or anything else- they are ALL either Microsoft or Google PERIOD. I turn

  2. Vista Pre-SP1 vs. Vista SP1

I've been Windows Updating for two straight days and I finally saw SP1. If you want to troubleshoot it, follow these steps:

    • Show hidden updates
    • Manually install any failed updates (google the KB_____ and install from the windows site)
    • Make sure everything in Device Manager is good to go
I had to do step two for like 4 or 5 updates to be able to see SP1.

Any other benchmarks you guys want to see? I might try PCMark05 (I think it works on Vista).

    About Ransomware attack

Here is Microsoft's Customer Guidance on the Ransomware Attack:

    • In March, we released a security update which addresses the vulnerability that these attacks are exploiting. Those who have Windows Update enabled are protected against attacks on this vulnerability. For those organizations who have not yet applied the
security update, we suggest you immediately deploy Microsoft Security Bulletin MS17-010.

    • For customers using Windows Defender, we released an update earlier today which detects this threat as Ransom:Win32/WannaCrypt.
As an additional “defense-in-depth” measure, keep up-to-date anti-malware software installed on your machines. Customers running anti-malware software from any number of security companies can confirm with their provider, that they are protected.

    • This attack type may evolve over time, so any additional defense-in-depth strategies will provide additional protections. (For example, to further protect against SMBv1 attacks, customers
should consider blocking legacy protocols on their networks).
