Windows 10: Windows update prepares,begins to install and then goes back to preparing

I’m reseting my laptop. After the reset is complete the screen alternates between preparing, windows installing and then goes have to the black preparing download screen. Windows installation has shown at 0% for at least 5 hours with no discernible progress. The boot order seems fine and I have tried trouble shooting but to no avail.

This might be happened due to flash drive got formatted with the same file system where windows installation need to be prepared.

In order to understand more about the query please answer the below questions.

  Let us know how you prepared the Windows 10 installation image on your flash drive?

  Are you preparing it through Media Creation Tool?
  

Note: While creating a USB installation media, the flash drive will only begin to start preparing the image only after performing a format to the drive.
This is an essential part recommended by Microsoft.

Preparing installation...

Thanks for the previous feedback. After reading your posts and being stuck on "Preparing" for 30 mins, I disconnected the phone, rebooted Windows, and then redid the procedure.

"Preparing installation" then came up for 30 secs and then the installation continued, during the course of which my phone was powered down (so I could see that it was doing something!).

Would be good if the Nokia FAQ could include the suggestion of rebooting Windows, please!

 

Preparing automatic repair, then it goes black

Hi, thanks for the help. But unfortunately I am unable to do the steps given as my laptop never reaches the sign-in page meaning I can't access the desktop. When I turn it on it says 'preparing automatic repair' then goes black, and doesn't change.
