Windows 10: Windows Update Problems 10.0.17713.1002 (rs5_release) (2)

For last two weeks my computer has failed to update. It just simply "restarts" when asked to "update and restart." It fails to note any error; it is as if I just restarted computer without a pending update. It is now hourly requesting a restart, but fails to actually even try to update when restarting.


It is failing to update to Windows 10 Insider Preview 10.0.17713.1002 (rs5_release) (2). The system Information and an "Update History" screenshot are noted below, if helpful.


I have run two different troubleshooters that attempted to diagnose or fix. I have chatted with a Microsoft help person. Nothing has helped.


The "in-built" troubleshooter for windows update seems OK except for one result:


"Problem with BITS service : The requested service has already been started. More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 2182."

Typing in "NET HELPMSG 2182" at the CMD line just returns "The requested service has already been started." (which I do not think provides me much of the promised "more help" )


The downloadable troubleshooter wu170509.diagcab was run three times. It appears to run its courses (e.g. repairs update database) but does not offer diagnostic hints and does not actually fix the problems.


Any suggestions?

Error when am updating to Windows 10 Insider Preview 17735.1000 (rs5_release)

Hi,

Am experiencing problems when doing update with Windows 10 Insider Preview 17735.1000 (rs5_release). I downloads and prompts for a restart but after that am the update does not go to 100%. it stops at 61% then restarts again. I check and my version of windows
still remains the same.

I have tried the following steps but it did not work for me:

• I have done the troubleshooting step provided in the site by using wu170509.diagcab to fix it but it does not work.

• I also tried doing the manual disabling of doing the net stop then renaming SoftwareDistribution but it still does not work
• Also tried restarting my machine couple of times and redoing the update but nothing happens.

What steps do you further recommended to get this sorted out?

Intel Updates Core 2 Quad Q9550 to E-0 Stepping

We continue our Monday news list with another Intel story that brings to our attention information concerning the company and more specificly its 2.83GHz Core 2 Quad Q9550 chips that will move from the current C-1 to the newer E-0 stepping. The updated chips will start selling on August 22nd, featuring the following changes:

• New SSpec and MM numbers for the converting products
• CPUID will change from 0x10677 to 0x1067A
• Package change to Halide free package

Apart from that, the new stepping CPUs will not include any other changes. Of course, like most new stepping parts a BIOS update will be needed.

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

i've seen this when the stock USB drivers went kaput. Only ever seen it once - i used a PCI USB 2.0 card and connected the mouse and keyboard to that, and manually updated the USB 2/USB 3 drivers.
