Windows 10: Windows Update stuck at 87%

I am on Windows 10 attempting to update to version 20H2, from whatever version was immediately before. I am looking in the Settings > Windows Update window. The update downloads successfully, then gets stuck at 87% every time. I have left it running overnight.


I have restarted my computer between update attempts, and this made no difference. 87%, every time.

I attempted to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter Settings > Troubleshooting > Windows Update Troubleshooter and the troubleshooter was unable to determine the issue. My tower updated fine, but my laptop which has more free space has been unable to, and is running like molasses while Windows continually attempts and fails to update.
