Windows 10: Windows Update Stuck At 89%

I went to shut down my pc for a couple of hours and it said I had a 5 minute windows update I could do so I clicked on that. and I need to get back on my computer but after a few hours my computer is a black screen that says “You’re 89% there. Please keep your computer on.” Is there anyway I can get out of this update or do I just have to keep waiting even though it was supposed to be just minutes?

I have tried all of that. The Update Troubleshooter said problem solved. I have done the component update. It still sticks at 89%. I am running Windows 10 home and have not successfully updated for 14 months so its getting worrying.

Are there any fixes which actually work?

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.
