Windows 10: Windows update stuck in loop: Unspecified error (0x80070571)

I've attempted a system restore after my Windows 10 laptop failed to update. The C: drive received the above error message. What action is now required?

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

 

Windows starting faulty and giving 0x80070571 error


Windows 10 booted very slowly today and once in, the background starts flickering and I can't click anywhere. I try a system restore but I get error code: 0x80070571. I then try running checkdisk from the prompt before windows starts, but it finds no errors. Same with the /scannow command. The automatic reparation didn't work either.
