Windows 10: Windows update stuck on 53%

Hello all, I am having problems installing Windows 10 updates...... again.
This update is dated 29.10.2015 and consists of 2 updates.
KB 3105210 states "waiting for download" and
KB 3106932 states "waiting for installation" It has been stuck on this for several hours and my attempts to use the repair tools have failed to resolve the problem.
Any "non technical" help would be appreciated.

Downloading Windows 10 stuck at 53%

I'm trying to get windows 10 and today, the update was ready so I started to download it... and it got stuck at 53% I even pressed stop download and did it again but it went straight to 53%! What should I do?

If it's been stuck for several hours and doesn't appear to be making any progress, I'd reboot and then do a very thorough disk clean-up with Disk Cleanup and CCleaner for both the files and the registry. Then reboot and start Update again.

For me, a complete clean-up is:

1. Delete the files in the Prefetch folder.
2. Run TFC by Oldtimer
3. Run Disk Cleanup and Administrative files
4. Run CCleaner for both files and registry. You should repeat the actions until you get an indication that everything is clean.

First of all try running this script as an Administrator and check if it fixes the problem .Reply back with the results.

Was this an upgrade install? If so, I find these to be very buggy. I would recommend performing a clean install and see what happens.

 

Try this solution Checking for updates taking ages

 

Your windows updater is Broken
Do you get any error code?
Search Google and fix your Windows Updater first
Then you will be able to install your updates

No, there was no error code. Also I looked at Windows updater but this seems to relate to Win. 7. I have also tried the "trouble shooter" but still no success.
A revision to Win 7 is starting to look tempting.

Hello, It is an upgrade from Win 7. Updates have previously installed without problems.
Is a clean install the same as "RECOVERY" in "Updates and Security ?

Try to install those 2 KB'S manually from your Internet Explorer Browser.
Do you have .NET Framework installed?
Check if you do
If not, install it manually as well

A clean install is not the same as a "recovery" in Updates and Security. A clean install is using the original Win 10 install program on a fully erased disk. It's the best of all the different types of installs. An upgrade install installs the new OS on top of an existing install. It's very often an earlier version of Windows. A Recovery is likely an operation that restores an install from an image. If the image was of an upgrade install, then the Recovery is no better than an upgrade install. If you do a clean install, it's best to make an image of the fresh clean install, because that is the fastest way fix problems after the clean install if it comes to that. There should be several tutorials in the Tutorials section that explain all the details.

I have installed .NET Framework and manually downloaded KB 3105210. (KB 3106932 had already downloaded and awaited installation) I have now gone back to Windows Update and after a long wait both have installed and the problem seems to be resolved.
