Windows 10: Windows Update unable to install feature update, DISM can't restore health or clean components

Hi,I've had an issue with Windows Update for a few months now, started giving me an error when installing the feature update I've been trying to get 0x80070002, solved it last week after finally realizing it was Secure Boot, and it actually installed the update and prompted me to restart my computer.When I did however, even if it did show the Preparing Windows and cleaning up screens, when I got back to Windows Update I found that it did not install anything and gave me a new error: 0x80004005.I tried an In-Place upgrade through the setup on a mounted ISO, couldn't complete, same error.I run

Yes, try a repair install instead of a clean install which is basically what a feature update does.

Use the following commands to check and repair system health without needing to do a clean or repair install.

1. Run sc /scannow from an admin a command prompt
2. Use DISM to scan the image for component store corruption. Run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth from an admin command prompt.
3. Use DISM to scan the image for component store corruption, perform repair operations automatically. Run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth from an admin command prompt

windows aniversary update will not install

Patricia, thanks for your suggestion. I looked to see how to reset the Windows update components. I think it is beyond my technical ability.

I tried DISM Restore Health but that also was unsuccessful

Someone also suggested a clean install, but I am trying to find a less extreme solution.

 

Windows 8, cant install updates properly.

Try this "Fix: Microsoft Update Error Code 0×80080008 while installing Windows Updates"
And, if that don't work try "FIX : Error 0×80080008 While Updating Windows Apps In Windows 8".
Then, if that fails... try this --> Fix Windows corruption errors by using the DISM or System Update Readiness tool

You could, also, run "SFC /scannow" and check for corrupt files.

If worse comes to worse... you could always do a windows refresh.
