Windows Update wants to download 3rd-party drivers/apps! Argh!

So as you may see from my other threads, I've been installing Windows 10 Pro x64 v. 2004 from scratch, and have been fighting with Windows wanting to install everything under the sun.

I finally installed Windows and turned on "metered connections" to stop Windows from downloading whenever it wanted.

I thought the worst of my troubles were over.

After finally re-connecting all my peripherals to my newly-built/newly-Window-ized computer, I launched Windows Update. It has offered to download and install:

    • Razer Inc - Camera - 6.2.9200.16473
    • Garmin - Bus Controllers and Ports, Other hardware - Garmin USB GPS
    • Lenovo - Input - USB Enhanced Performance Keyboard
I have a Razer Kiyo webcam attached to my computer, and 2 Garmin watch charger/sync-cables, and that's my keyboard there.

I actually already downloaded Lenovo's keyboard driver, so I don't know why Windows wants to install another one.

I don't need any special drivers or apps for using the Garmin watches, nor the Razer camera... but Windows wants to force me to install them.

I've selected "No" to the "automatically download manufacturers' apps and custom icons", and the camera and the watches aren't even connected anymore... yet Windows wants to make me download drivers and apps for them.

Anyone have this happen to them? Any way I can make it stop? Anyway I can permanently stop Windows from offering to download drivers and apps for 3rd party hardware? Because it doesn't seem to be honoring that setting.

    - Tim

    :)

Windows Mail and 3rd party messages

    Hi,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Communities.

Please assist me with the following information related to this issue:

    • May I know what exactly do you mean when you say "download messages from 3rd party into Windows Mail"?
    • Are you referring to Mail app on Windows 10? If so, are you able to receive any send email via Mail app?

If you are facing issues with Mail app, I suggest
run the in-built Windows Store app troubleshooter and check. Follow the steps:

    • Press Windows Key + X..

    • Click on Control Panel.

    • Select Troubleshooting.

    • On the left pane, click on View All.

    • Click on Windows Store apps to run the troubleshooter.
Let us know if the issue is resolved or if you require further assistance.

Blurry fonts in WINDOWS 10 3rd-party apps

    Hello,

Thanks for posting your query to Microsoft forum. I will certainly help you with this.

Method 1: Check the screen resolution

    • Press Windows key on the keyboard
    • Click on System
    • Go to Display
    • Click on Advance display settings
    • Change the resolution (1280x1024 recommended)
Method 2: Update display adapter driver.

Step 1: Check for the latest display driver update through Windows Updates.

    • At the Start screen, type Windows Update.
    • Click or tap Settings on the right side of the screen, and then select
Install optional updates from the left results.
    • When the Windows Update control panel opens, click on “Check for Updates” on the top left corner to receive a fresh list of updates.
Step 2: Follow the steps below to update the Bluetooth drivers.

    • Press Windows + X key on the keyboard.
    • Go to device manager.
    • Right-click your display/graphic devices.
    • Click Update Driver Software and then follow the steps in the wizard that appears.
    Restart the computer and check.

If the issue persists, follow method 3.

    Method 3: Compatibility mode

I would suggest you install the latest driver from your computer manufacturer website for Windows 10.

If there no drivers available for Windows 10,
try installing it in compatibility mode.
Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows.

Follow these steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

    a. Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website.

    b. Right-click on the driver setup file and click on
    ‘properties’.

    c. Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box
‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 8 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation.

    d. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
