  1. Windows Update - We Couldn't Update the System Reserved Partition

    Evening all,

So I have a bit of an issues at the moment which has been going on for some time. I've been trying to go through proper HP Support but they seem to be ignorant of the situation and just ignore my requests for help. In itself, this isn't great as I am under extended warranty full support so expect some hoop jumping. Essentially though this is my issue

I cannot update Windows because apparently, the system reserve partition is too full to allow it to be updated as part of the installation.

Microsoft's official response to this is linked here and effectively states to go into disk management, assign a drive letter, clear out specific areas, then remove the drive letter and try again.

So I thought, yeah, piece of cake. Except as you can see below, the every single option is greyed out. I cannot even get to the properties to ascertain the requirements so I know which method to follow.

Obviously, this is more than a little frustrating. Is there anyone here who's had a similar issue and been able to resolve. I have to assume the fact this is greyed out makes it an HP thing but not 100% certain. I guess it depends on how the partition was originally created.

Any help is appreciated here so many thanks in advance.

  3. We couldn't update the system reserved partition - Windows 10 1803 Updates won't install

The usual suggestion is to clean it out.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3086249/we-couldn-t-update-system-reserved-partition-error-installing-windows

Are you implying DISM is showing a message about bootmgr? What is the message exactly? You may need to use a different DISM syntax and point to a /source:

Otherwise it may be bogus. For a possibly related incident see

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-update-winpc/windows-10-update-kb3213986-fails-repeatedly-with/46d9b1af-71a6-4d39-acaf-c3882047ac12

What are the details for that?
