Windows 10: Windows Update won't Install Update.

I have been trying to install an update for several months now with each time it failing and telling me to retry. This particular update is the 2024-04 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems. The month in brackets change as time goes by i.e. 4 weeks ago it was 2024-03. After looking into the error code I am getting and doing all the recommended and usual troubleshooting I keep having the same issue. Even the stand alone installers fail. The error code says the update is for OS Builds 22621.3447 and 22631.3447 however as you can see in the images my OS Build is

I had the same problem when i repaired my O/S, i forgot the steps on how to fixed it, but it is in the microsoft support forum.

You have to reinstall the windows updater, then restart the updating service.

I had read that. However the problem MS is addressing there is when the update client files of the pc don't recognise that the pc is not updated and hence don't download the updates. My updates download fine. In fact I'm even getting downloaded updates which I do not need (win2000, vista, server...) The problem is getting the correct updates installed...

For example, I'm getting KB933729 in my list. That's for Vista!

 

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time
