    Windows Update

In other previous versions of Windows we could hide updates for programs we didn't want updated. I am using Office 2016 and have removed all pieces of Office 2010 (I think). When I go to Windows Update it shows me Service Pack 2 and about seven other updates to be installed for Office 2010. Of course when it tries to update 2010 it comes back with Error 0x80070643.
Any clues as to how I can hide or remove these updates

    :)

I haven't been able to install Windows 10 due to the following error: C1900101-20017. Any idea what this is and does it mean I'm out of luck?

  3. Windows 10 haven't updated to version 1511 --- How to find product key

I haven't run the ISO disk as of yet, I want the current product key in hand, on a post it note, prior to doing that, not interested in MS bullS**T about it not being needed. 2 hours online with tech support and they can't cope with the question of how
can the current product key be accessed in windows 10.

I've never owned a Apple product, but I can never see buying or having another MS product in my household after this.

    NOT THE ONLY ONE

    Windows Update

You're treating the symptom, not curing the problem by trying to disable updates. Fix the actual problem and then you don't have to worry about the updates.

Use the Office 2010 Manual removal tools.

    Uninstall or remove Office 2010

I do have Office 2010 and I'm also seeing error 0x80070643 on the Windows update:

Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070643: Update for Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime (KB3001652).

There have been many attempts to re-install the update, with the same 'net' results.

Looking up the error message would seem to indicate a problem with .NET

I'll watch this item for a while before I attempt the fix suggestions - those FIXIT web pages don't always apply to Windows 10.

    EDIT:

Upon further analysis from an error log I see this:

I'll keep at it some more.

On Windows 10, why do updates re-order desktop icons?: It is very annoying when I have taken the trouble to order my desktop icons to how I want them, when a Windows Update totally trashes my preference with a re-ordered desk top that defies logic . Is there anyway of stopping this or do I just have to accept that Microsoft knows...
