Windows 10: Windows updated my computer without permission and now keeps updating at every reboot and...

Windows10 update keeps reinstalling every time I reboot. It also eliminates any work I tried saving.

Windows restarted my computer with no warning and attempted to install the update last week.. Now, I have to wait until it reinstalls the update whenever I reboot. All my files have been hidden by this. It would be nice if Microsoft had a warning on this. I tried to use system restore and it said it was more than 10 days since the update was downloaded. None of my restore points worked, but I figured it was worth a try.


This update, at least what I ended up with, deletes everything, like passwords or user names and favorites when it does the reinstall.


What I want is to either be able to rollback to the previous version or delete what I have to, to get it to reinstall correctly so I get my programs and files back.

My Pc got Rebooted without my permission (event id 1074, 1530, 916, Tons of EVENT During that Reboot time) URGENT HELP!!

My HTPC rebooted after some windows update - it runs Windows 10 and I haven't messed with things to disable the auto update features of the OS. My Win 7 computer, she didn't reboot, but I have it setup to not update anything without my permission.

My Win 7 work computer reboot for windows update - I get no control over this since updates are handled through the server.

So, last night Windows was kind enough to push out some kind of update(s) that required a restart seeing as it was the second Tuesday of the month.

 

My Windows Update Keeps repeating updates..?

so i just reformatted and now my windows update keeps downloading and installing the same 4 updates... anyoe know of a fix to this?

Well, Honey, you didn't say what version of Windows you have but if W10 as listed in your specs, it was probably Windows Update completing the update process. And that's a good thing as long as it did not reboot right in the middle of you doing something. It is suppose to wait until the computer is idle. Yesterday's updates did indeed require a reboot. And it schedules these things around 3am (which can be changed if you are a night owl) when most people are asleep.

If your computer is working fine now, I would not worry about it.
