Windows 10: Windows updater issues

for the past two days, i cannot get my windows to connect to the update server. i keep getting this error: "We couldn't connect to the update service. We'll try again later, or you can check now. If it still doesn't work, make sure you're connected to the Internet."


i have run all the trouble shooting tips suggested. i can get anywhere else on the web, just not connecting to the update server on windows 10. i see on https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/update.microsoft.com.html the servers are up, but over 135 comments about not being able to connect are also present.


is there an issue with the server? as i said, i've run all the fixes and trouble shooting tips suggested on various forums that addressed this issue. Help. i need to update.

Definitely not an issue with the Windows Servers as I just re-installed yesterday and got all my updates.

It works, but I still need to fix it so that way I dont have to plug computers directly to the modem to get windows update to work. It was also blocking me from installing directx.

If your wireless router has a built in firewall maybe it's somehow set to block the ports that Windows updates use?

I'd also suggest if it works with it being directly connected then you could try resetting your router to see if this fixes the issue.
