Windows 10: windows updates and refresh

Windows updates have been failing on my computer for some time.


Error codes include:

0x80070652

0x80070002

0x80240034

0xc1900101

0x80070643


The update goes through its long process, almost finishes and then backs out (see list below which shows some of the failed updates)


i thought a simple solution to this ongoing problem would be to try the inbuilt windows fresh start. I backed up my data and then folowed the steps through the windows defender centre. Same story - it almost finished and aborted and undid any changes it made and i do not have a fresh start. Please help.

IF you do not want to overburden the main window GUI with the extra Refresh button I suggest, Refresh could be added to the system menu in top left instead, and/or into Settings.
(such as add a button labeled "Refresh main tab" or similar text of your choosing to Settings)

Well that's why I asked. Mine is on SSD and takes 11 seconds. Your list of games will not appear if it has not checkd for updated suggested settings for awhile until it checks.

When it says it is refreshing the game list, it is checking, because NVIDIA periodically updates suggested settings. Plus it will look for those for new games you have installed.

So, the less it is run, the slower it will be.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
