Windows 10: Windows Updates are extreamly slow

This is my first time doing Windows updates on a 10 machine. Not sure what to expect. When I check for updates and it finds one I then select install. One update can take a day to install. Are there any known issues that could be causing this? The PC runs just fine and is fast. CPU and RAM are hardly being used.

Nokia c5 is getting extreamly slow

I have a C5-00 and it is extremely fast (faster than my C7 actually). I use it only to make calls with only Netquin M Guard running in the background. The only few points you should remember is:

1 Do not keep too many apps open (ex Music is always open unless you select exit from options). You can see the open apps by long press on the Menu button.

2. Do not instal too many apps that have auto start facility (they start at boot time and are always in the background.)

3. Do not run several processor intensive apps at the same time (ex Music with streaming via bluetooth/FM transmitter and browser and messaging and...)

Hi, you should not normally need to manually check for updates. There are I suppose 4 types:
1. Major build updates (like 10856 from 10240 last November- these will come periodically, and appear as a Windows installation process.
2. Routine updates not requiring a restart
3. Updates requiring a restart
4. Driver updates

1 & 3 you will be aware of of course as these interfere with day to day use.
3. - you should select the option to schedule a restart for these so that the PC does not restart abruptly.

Only (1) is a more protracted process of course. Updates requiring a restart may delay the restart e.g. with a throbber indication or other message about % completion, but you're talking minutes at most.

So at which point in the process are you noticing delays? Downloading? Applying the update?
If downloading, do you have a good internet connection?
Have you checked your update history to see if there is a repeated failure to apply updates?

 

Pretty much all process was slow. I have a 30 Mbs download speed. Since the update there is no update history. I read some where that the history goes away after a build update. It did however update completely. This is a friends computer and I spoke with him and found he has not had it on since January. When updates were completed the build was the latest one (10856) which might have been the issue. Not sure what it was prior to that. I did not know about the builds but have since read about them. I think all is OK at this point. Seems to be running fine. Thank you for your help and the explanation. 10 is new to me and I am still learning.
