I've now also tried updating in a clean boot, which also failed.

After another couple installation attempts, I got another error code 0x80246007

 

Have you run the update troubleshooter?

When did this start? What anti-virus do you use? Do you have a third party firewall installed? A little information on what you've tried doing to fix this, if anything, would be helpful.

Well then , first thing I would suggest is running Windows Defender, then running a system file check since you don't wish to use a anti-malware program. If you haven't ran a system file check before here a link to our tutorial on how to do that.

I STRONGLY suggest you get an anti-malware and/or a anti-virus program on your system and the sooner the better.

also windows defender found nothing

If not.. here are more possible steps:

ok so i rebooted then it got a screen which contained the following:
1 User icon & [my username] & `Welcome` text + some wieid animation with some dots cycling around (similar to plymoth)
for about 20 min and then i turn off my pc (via the power button) and reboot and it was fine but the updates failed

 

also i tried
