    Windows Updates Filling Hard Drive


    I've got a problem that is occuring sporadically where Windows Updates will fill a drive to capacity - when we dig into the Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder we inevitably find one update that just has dozens of copies of the update and they keep coming.


    Some of the PCs have been on our domain for years without issue and they will suddenly start this issue.


    We have a 2016 WSUS server in place, the PCs in question are all running Windows 10.


    My management team wants a solution that can be implemented permanently and doesn't like the answer of "its just one of those things that happens" and that we know how to fix it.


    To fix it we stop the Windows update service, stop the bits service, purge the local updates cache, force a GPUPDATE and reboot and that generally seems to take care of the issue.

    Windows 10 update has filled my hard drive.

    Anyone else had an Windows update that has filled a hard 1.80 TB. My hard drive is showing red, it was fine yesterday. I had an update on the 18th Jan 2016, just as I shut down. Help. I can't find what file is filling up my hard drive.

    Windowed Hard Drives

    On the contrary, showing off "slow tech" by adding a window to a hard drive is a "dumb" idea. Do you really want to be showing off a whole "7200-10000 RPM of power" or would you rather show off a plain SSD drive? (If you really desire to "show off")

    Adding any window to any drive is just stupid. I just suggested an easier option for you since manufactures don't put windows on the latest hard drives.
