Windows 10: Windows Updates ignore my settings

It looks like Microsoft is progressively taking away the user control of Windows automatic updates.Initially, I was allowing automatic updates with the requirement to notify me when updates are available - meaning do NOT download and install them automatically. Also, I was able to see the available updates and CHOOSE which ones I want to download and which I want to ignore.That was working fine for a while, until sometime last year when those notifications STOPPED, the list of available updates started to be shown only when they were already downloading with NO option to stop the download or

Power Settings Ignored by Lenovo Yoga 400 laptop

• Did you make any changes to your computer? I dont know.. what kind of changes are you talking about. I only added software.. like Norton Security and a few free MSFT apps.
• Which Build are you currently in? I dont know..probably the latest one. How do i determine "the build"?? I always update windows and pretty sure this is up to date here.
• Which troubleshooting steps did you try? Tried everything that was suggested,..power troubleshooter, update graphics card, set power settings to default, and other things.. nothing worked. Has been a problem for many months.
  How do i do this clean boot? I will need instructions for these things..step by step. i am tired of this machine ignoring the power settings. Need this fixed.

 

HyperSLI (Enabling SLI on non-sli motherboards)

To turn off windows updates in windows 7 follow these steps:

Click the start button, in the search box type in 'windows updates', click on 'windows update'
in the search results list, in the left side of the windows update window click 'change settings'
then in the option bar select 'Never check for updates'.

 

PC is ignoring power settings..

Have you tried updating your display adapters? If not, kindly do so. It can be the issue is with your display adapter. To do so, follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X
• Click Device Manager
  
  
• Right-click Display Adapter
  
  
• Click Properties
• Click Driver tab
• Click Update Driver
• Click Search automatically for updated driver software

By then, it should update your Display driver. You can also download the driver from the manufacturer and repeat the steps provided above then choose Browse my computer for driver software.

If the settings are still not retained, we would suggest you to update your BIOS with the help of your computer's manufacturer.
