Windows 10: windows updates turns my screen black

Below is the information on my gaming laptop. Recently each time I turn it on I have to install the Windows updates, and when it reboots, the screen is black and can only see my mouse cursor. I can NOT see the start bar or anything else. I have to go into SAFE mode and uninstall it in order to bring it back, so I can use my system. The updates come back after a day or two and won't let me ignore them. I need help so I don't have to deal with this every few days. Black Screen During Driver Update

I reinstalled my laptop back to factory settings, and I wanted to update the GPU drivers. But when I try, the screen turns black during the update, but the computer is still running. I was forced to turn off the computer and turn it back on. I used system restore, so now I'm using the default drivers that came with the laptop. Can you guys suggest anything?

• When the screen was blank, were you able to see the cursor on the screen?
  
• Did you get any error code or error message?
