  1. Windows User Account

I have recently noticed a 'ghost' account on my Windows 10 HP a.i.o Desktop. When the sign in page opens it shows just one account, in my name but not with my photo. I input the 'correct' password, but am told it is not correct, I press OK and then up pops 2 accounts in my name in the bottom left corner, one, is the 'ghost' account and the other is my original account which I click on, enter password and get logged in with no further problems.

Today I decided to research and remedy this problem, but found this hard to get to grips with, most places I checked my original with photo account was the only one showing so nothing appeared to have changed. By chance I discovered something I wanted to enquire online about and was given help (unrelated) but whilst fixing this problem via netplwiz I discovered that I do have a second Microsoft Account, although hidden from everywhere else I had looked.

It was shown as : ashbackuppb - Administrator as the first Account User, my own Account was beneath this, but everything was greyed out and I could do nothing on that Window!

I do have Ashampoo BACK UP running on my computer, and it may well have been around the same time that the ghost account appeared, but I never caught the link between the 2 occurrences.

E mails to Ashampoo have been unanswered, so I do not know how I can get back to being the main User Account Holder and Admin on my computer, other than, I suppose, uninstalling this paid for program.

I can find nothing about this online, and do feel that if this is 'usual' with Ashampoo, or indeed any other software sellers it should be more broadly known about, we are always being told to be careful what we install, and I am sure I would have 'thought twice' before allowing anyone, let alone someone I do not know, access and control of my computer on a more or less permanent time frame.

If there is no answer other than to uninstall this program, then I feel that I should also be entitled to a refund of the price paid for this software. I do and have used other Ashampoo software, but will not be keeping it or paying any further costs to them. I need full control of my computer and most definitely of my User Account! Surely this cannot be right? I would be most interested to know if others have any knowledge or experience of this problem with Ashampoo or other suppliers.

    :)

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown Windows User Account :(

    Remove account

I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
To delete an account, follow these steps:
    1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
    2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:
      Code:
      net user test /del
