    I noticed that my windows is using 4GB of ram 2x4GB 1666MHz, my motherboard supports maximum of 1333.I tried this: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/9qhk6x/if_your_computer_is_using_around_4050_ram_while/ but it didn't changed anything.I also tried this https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/new-windows-10-laptop-4-gb-ram-use-at-idle/f8219d38-842f-4fa9-8efe-badb8b7e380dbut when i clicked set there was a weird error that says something like "not enough disk space" my C disk space is 14GB so i think that may be why.I deleted some things that i don't need and it's 1

    Windows shows 8GB RAM installed but 4GB RAM is usable

    Hi There,

    I've just upgraded my pc from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM. Windows seems to have detected this upgrade but why does it show as only 4GB RAM available. The following is what I have tried so far with no luck:

    • I have tried the msconfig method on ensuring maximum memory is not checked.
    • physically removed the new RAM and reinstalled it
    Any thoughts/suggestions on how i can resolve this matter?

    RAM usage 50±% on idle.

    without Firefox its on 43% usage, which still looks alot for me considering it to be on idle.

    BitDefender was updating.

    I actually have 8gb of ram, not 4gb.

    Windows 10 is extremely hardware intensive and 1.5GB - 2GB of RAM on idle is about average . . .

    On a system with 4GB of RAM that is about what you can expect, 1/2 your RAM for the OS and 1/2 your RAM for apps and hardware . . .

    If your system is really slow, then installing the 32bit version of Windows 10 would free up more system resources, especially RAM . . .
