Windows 10: Windows video capture windows key+Alt+R no longer works to record samples of my work in...

I need to screen record to show where there are faults in our game design, but I woke up today to find that I can no longer record anything but the web browser. Did Microsoft gut a feature. Why? What 3rd party screen recorder do you recommend?

For better clarity, please let us know:

• Which application are you using to record the screen?
  
• Are you aware of any changes made to the computer recently?
  
• Which build version of Windows 10 are you using currently? To check type:
  winver in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit
  Enter.
  

If you are using Game Bar to record the screen, I suggest you to refer the steps mentioned below:



Change Game Bar settings:



I would suggest you to change the capture settings for Game Bar and see if that helps. Refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows Logo key + I, to open
   Settings.
   
2. Click on Gaming.
   
3. Click on Captures on the left pane.
   
4. Under Recorded video, change the
   Video frame rate to 60 fps.
   
5. Now, set the Video quality to
   high from the drop down.
   

Change the game video settings:



You may also want to change the video settings for the game to full screen windowed mode.



Check Xbox Game Monitoring service:

1. Press Windows Logo key + R, to open
   Run dialog box.
   
2. Type services.msc and click on
   OK.
   
3. Scroll down and look for Xbox Game Monitoring, and see if the service is running.
   
4. If the service is not running, right click on the service and select
   Start.

How to Record Video of an App in Windows 10

1. Open the app you want to record. Unfortunately, the tool can't capture some programs, such as File Manager, or the entire desktop, but it does work in regular apps, whether from the Windows Store or desktop apps.

2. Press the Windows key and the letter G at the same time to open the Game Bar dialog.

3. Check the "Yes, this is a game" checkbox to load the Game Bar. This is the procedure whether you are recording a game or another kind of app.

4. Click on the Start Recording button (or Win + Alt + R) to begin capturing video.

5. Stop the recording by clicking on the red recording bar that will be on the top right of the program window. (If it disappears on you, press Win + G again to bring the Game Bar back.)

Keyboard shortcut Alt key not working

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1: You may check if the ALT key is functioning correctly in on-screen keyboard. It will help us to verify if there is any issue with the keyboard.

Follow the steps below to open On-screen Keyboard.

• 
  Windows + Q, type OSK (on-screen keyboard)
  
• 
  And check if it works
  

Step 2: Run Hardware and device Troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your devices. Refer these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.
