  2. Windows Vista; Backup EFS Certificates and Recovery Keys; Signing in to backup failure

How can I backup my Recovery Keys and EFS Certificates

    * I went to the Control Panel

    * Security Online Backup

    * I tried signing in (yes I used an app password),

and it just keeps saying username and password incorrect.

I know that operating systems older than Windows 8 require app passwords when linking operating system to a live account (msn, office, or xbox). But regardless it never works for me.

My computer came with Windows 7 but the system kept crashing, so now I am using a preactivated copy of Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 6.0.0.6002 (64-bit), my system crashed so I had to reformat it, since I had only an OEM license for the installed system and
ran out of space I decided to install Windows Vista. I had issues trying to activate Windows Vista, so I had my friend give me a WGA modified, reinstallation DVD with Windows Vista Ultimate so I don't get annoyed into activating it, since it is a modifier
installed, I liked it like this, for two reasons:; *I didn't want to buy a license for an
    unsupported operating system
and because it costs too much money. It's best security installed is Windows Defender. I have installed it on February 12, 2018. I use it for Bitlocker Protection, I don't remember my key so I need help backing it up.

Is no one going to respond to this, Microsoft won't help me.

  3. EFS Backup keys

    Thanks BullDogXX

I performed a full encrypted backup just in case but there was no problem. Now I need to know if the previous backup EFS certificate is still good. I was going to back them up again under Windows 10 but when I follow the recommended procedure...

Encrypting File System (EFS) BackUp question

    Hi Carlos.

When i encrypt my first folder (Receipt) i did a EFS BackUp (BackUp the certificates and keys) to a removable disk.

But then i wonder if i should encrypt the BackUp folder (EFS BackUp).

If i lost my certificates (because of a disk failure, for example)

When i then restore the backup copy to Windows.

Can i regain access to these files if the BackUp folder is encrypted ?.
