Windows 10: Windows Volume Slider slides to mute

Hello everyone!A few days ago, without any update or new software installed, my sound volume was at 0 mute and whenever I slide it with the mouse from the taskbar through the volume icon, when I unclick the mouse button, the slider goes by itself back to mute. Also, at windows startup, the little volume widget from the manufacturer I assume on the upper left side of the screen is always visible.Because I'm in a laptop, only when I select Vol+ or Vol- on the laptop keyboard, will the little widget disappear and the volume configuration goes back to normal. Without sliding back.I went to

Volume control at 100, can't mute or reduce sound

The volume buttons (louder, softer, mute) on laptop sound do not work. The headphone volume is set to 100, and when I click on the slider to lower volume, the slider automatically slides back up to 100. The black and green volume control box is constantly
displayed in upper left of screen -- again, set to 100. When I click on slider to lower volume, the slider automatically slides back up to 100.

I just did a SFC /scannow to address a dropdown menu issue, and so the system has been verified.

Please advise a fix. Thanks.

 

Volume Mixer not showing muted app

The application was muted on Windows 10 with November update. Now I am using Anniversary update, on build 14393.10

The initial step did not help make Banished show up in the Volume Mixer, nor did the article.

Windows 10 volume slider:

This is the main slider which controls overall volume of your PC.

VLC player & Spotify

These and other similar programs volume sliders control itself volume.

Example:

if you decrease volume or mute within media player then you are modifying that specific player sound; Not entire PC. Which means, Those settings won't applied on Windows Notification System OR other media players and they can play sounds.

And if you modify Windows 10 volume like "mute it" then all sounds will be muted. (Including media player, notification and other sounds)

In Short:

• Windows 10: Global settings and will effect all sounds (players, notifications etc)
  
• Media Players: Specific player settings
