Windows 10: Windows WILL NOT boot, so how do I obtain my recovery key

There are articles on here that claim to answer the problem but they do not. How do I obtain by recovery key if I can't get windows to boot? It fails and will ONLY bring me to the blue recovery screen. Seems like a HORRIBLE company policy to not answer your phones and just provide this information when I provide my windows key. So instead of using my brand new version of windows I find myself reading articles that fail to answer my question.

How do I obtain the recovery key since Microsoft cannot "Find My Phone"??

Before I assist you I would like to weather you are using Microsoft account to login to the phone and why are you trying to reset the phone?

A recovery key may be obtained from account.microsoft.com by removing your phone from account.microsoft.com/devices. You can find more information on the reset protection process
here.

1. Go to account.microsoft.com/devices,
   sign in with the Microsoft Account used on the device at time of reset or recovery.
   
2. Click Remove phone.
   
3. When you're certain that you have your recovery key saved, select the
   I've kept a copy of the recovery key check box, and then click
   Okay.
   
4. Use the recovery key during phone set up.
   

If you are not able to find the recovery key, I suggest you to reset the phone using the “Windows device recovery tool”


When the phone asks for the key, there is an option "turn off reset protection" and if you don not remember exactly the recovery key you can select reset the phone using “windows device recovery tool" after which phone would ask you for live
id and password. Restart the phone after which phone works perfectly.

Note:Take the backup to OneDrive before resetting the phone.

If you issue still persists, I would suggest you try the troubleshooting steps provided in the link related to “Repair and recover” and “Security and privacy” sections. These two section would help you for Securing and protecting your phone.

How does Windows boot to advanced recovery option e.g. command prompt?

- that gives me a 454 'Unexpected error' This tells me that the BCD is partially corrupted.

The commands: shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00
or: %SystemRoot%\System32\Cmd.exe /c reagentc /boottore&shutdown /r /f /t 00
should boot into Recovery if everything is configured correctly.
FYI, If Windows is configured correctly:

1. If Reagentc is disabled, you still can get into Recovery but with limited options.
2. If Reagentc is enabled, you'll get all options.
3. If you boot Windows using Recovery USB stick, You'll get into Recovery with couple of options missing.

Here's my suggestion if you want to try:
OPTION 1: Will save the trouble of re-install Windows.

1. Download the image of my first 3 partitions (450MB Recovery, 100 MB EFI partition, and 16MB unformatted primary)
   EFI_Boot-00-00.7z - Google Drive
2. Run Macrium and restore the image from step 1, overwriting your existing 1st three partitions, leaving C alone.
3. Delete the 490MB Recovery partition.
4. From Macrium, run fix boot problems.
5. Reboot. Open Admin command prompt then run Reagentc /info to make sure that it is enabled. If not, enable it.
   if failed to enable, reboot and try again.

OPTION 2: Assuming you've already had Windows backup with Macrium.

1. Wipe out the first 5 parttiions. (450MB, 100MB, 16MB, C Drive, 480MB)
2. Fresh install Windows 10
3. Restore C drive from backup image, run fix boot problems
4. repeat step 5 from OPTION 1 above.
