    Windows Will Not "Index" Both My New Drives

    I recently purchased a new HP Omen 45L with Windows 11 Home on it. When I bought it I traded the 1-T Drive-C for a new 4-T Drive-C, and renamed the 1-T drive to Drive-D. I copied the original drive to the new drive with LapLink PCMover Pro 11. I have been trying to index "all" of my drives, excluding system folders, and the Indexing program will "only" index the Orginal C:\ Drive, which is now D:\. For some reason, it will "not" Index the new C:\ Drive, even though I have both drives set to Index in the Indexing program. Any ideas why this may not be indexing the new C:\ Drive?

    :)

    Search Not Indexing Optical Drive

    Thanks,

    • When you mentioned D Drive, are you pertaining to a partition or a separate external drive? - D Drive = Solid State Drive; 1 of 2 internal drives (the other being an optical drive);
    • Were you able to check if indexing was already completed? - Indexing completed on each attempt of rectification;
    • In the meantime, we suggest that you run the Search and Indexing troubleshooter - Done prior to posting; useless! It does not find any problems.

    Windows 10 indexing selects wrong drive

    I used a bootable CD containing
    EaseUS
    disk copier to clone the Win8.1 drive to a new HDD.

    At your suggestion I tried changing the drive letter of the 8.1 disk from D: to I:. This did not fix the problem. When I select the C: drive to index it jumps to the I: drive and does not index any of the C: drive.

    Again, I went into Device Manager and disabled to 2nd disk (the original 8.1) and that corrected the problem.

    Windows 10 Index locations not all showing up in search

    Hello,

    There might be some settings missing or corrupted.

    I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

    Method 1:

    I suggest you to remove the D drive from the indexing and run the indexing troubleshooter.

    Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter:

    • Press “Windows key + X” to click on “Control Panel”.

    • Click on “Troubleshooting” and click on “View all”.

    • Click on “Search and Indexing” to run the troubleshooter.

      Once this is done, restart the computer and check if this helps.

    Method 2:

    Re –build the indexing by adding the D drive and verify the result.

    Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

    Thank you.
