    At some point a while ago, my pc suddenly stopped waking from sleep mode normally. When I use the mouse or keyboard, I can hear the hardware begin to spin up and realize there was input. But this never wakes the actual monitors and nothing I do can make the pc wake up normally.The only thing that works is by hitting the keyboard, waiting a few seconds, then hitting my case reset button. I can't even force a shutdown with the case power button.

    Thank you for posting your reply. Apologize for the delay in response.

    I suggest you to check which devices are configured to wake up the computer from sleep by following the steps below:

    • Right click on Start icon and select Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Type the command line below:
    Powercfg /devicequery wake_armed

    3. Check if the devices (Keyboard, Mouse, Ethernet cable) are listed.

    If the system is not going to sleep and going to Hybernate, the only option to wake up is to press the Power button.

    Clicking power button to wake from sleep causes restart

    Hi - I have a Dell Latitude E7470 running Windows 10. For the past few days since a recent upgrade, whenever I put the computer to sleep, and then click the power button to wake, the machine restarts instead of just waking up from where I left off. Incredibly
    annoying. This didn't used to happen before the recent upgrade. Any suggestions?

    Power Button Sleep Stops Working Until Restart in Windows 10


    I believe I've narrowed down to issue to when I wake up the computer with the power button, then it won't go to sleep again with the power button. I was mistaken about needing to restart Windows to get the power button to work with sleep again. If I use the start menu power to sleep because the physical power button isn't putting my computer to sleep, then wake it up with the keyboard, I can then sleep the computer with the power button again.

    Can anyone confirm their computer is behaving the same way?
