    Windows won't detect my mic


    I just reinstalled Windows on my computer today and I tried listening to a video on YouTube and it came out of my laptop speakers instead of my headset. I tried switching my default audio output and input to my headset and they don't show up there?? I tried updating the drivers for it in Device Manager and it says they're up to date. I also tried uninstalling all of the audio drivers and restarting my computer, did nothing.

    Computer won't detect my mic?

    I bought a microphone for streaming and I'm using my Alienware 17 laptop and won't detect my mic when I plug it into the audio on the side?

    Laptop won't detect built-in mic on headsets/earbuds

    I'm running Windows 10 home on a Lenovo Ideapad laptop, and it doesn't detect the mic on any of my headsets/earbuds. I can hear playback fine on my headsets/earbuds, but it can't speak through them, since it insists on using the laptop's internal mic. This results in my typing/mouse clicks all being captured on audio.

    • In sound properties recording tab, I just see "microphone (Realtek high def audio)" and "stereo mix (Realtek high def audio)"
    • In sound properties playback tab, I just see "speakers (Realtek high def audio)", yet I hear audio fine on my headsets/earbuds?
    • In device manager, it doesn't detect a headset either, displays the same list as the recording tab
    So do all 3 of my headsets/earbuds have some kind of "plug and play but stays invisible to the OS" feature? One of them is the default Apple earbuds, I'm 100% sure there's a mic on there and these are brand new, so they aren't broken. Are these not supposed to appear as a "headset" device with the headset icon in sound properties?

    My pc- inspiron 3670, just recently will not longer detect my microphone with my headphones. I have tried troubleshooting and reinstalling my headphones but nothing has worked. I have my headphones plugged into the headset jack but the jack or my pc won't
    detect my mic with my headphones. I know it's not my headphones and have tried multiple headphones but the sound works just there is no detection of my mic with my headphones. I don't know what else to do at this point.
