Windows 10: Windows Won't go into screen saver mode

Hello,


I have a brand new HP Laptop and I used on previous laptop an external USB to Optical/SPDIF and/or Coaxial converter, so all sound playing on computer, would output through USB into this converter, then this converter connected into a Marantz HIFI amplifier on "digital in" or "coaxial digital" connection would reproduce the sound passing on computer.


Now I installed the drivers and connected this box to this new HP Laptop, and using Foobar2000, which for me is the best HIFI player, and when connected with a USB cable to this external converter, Windows won't activate the screen saver, either if I set it on power options or just screen saver, if I disconnect the USB cable, then yes, one or another works.


A friend of mine bought the same pc, and faced the same problem, so he went to Closing the Lid options and selected "do nothing", and when he closed the lid, the screen will turn of, obviously, and music keeps on playing and outputting into the external converter, this prevents to draining the battery because of screen being continuously on, if it was off, the battery would last much more and there were no need to be charging it so much.


I was told that there is no way around, but if with the lid closed, it turns off the screen and keeps on playing Foobar2000, there must be another way to do it without closing the lid, pressing some keyboard or something, I tried for year many things and never worked, a friend told me that initially it worked on his laptop with some of the first Win 10 versions, but after upgrading it never worked, my old laptop started with Win 10 1603 and never worked. Help please.

My battery settings on battery settings won´t change, my pc is always on battery saver mode and I haven´t been able to turn it off

Let us know what happens exactly when you try to set the screen-saver or put the computer to sleep.

I would suggest you to review he settings and check. Here is the steps:

To change Screen Saver:

• Press Windows/Start key.
• Type Screen Saver and click on Change Screen Saver.
• Select the screensaver from the drop down menu and click on Apply.
• Click on OK.

To put the computer in sleep:

• Press Windows/Start key.
• Type Power and click on Power Options.
• Select Change when the computer sleeps in the left panel.

Sound and screen saver/display/sleep mode

Hi,

If you want to keep playing the music while the screen is off, you may try changing the screen saver to Blank. Just perform the steps below:

• Go to Windows Settings and select Themes.
• Click Theme settings.
• Go to Screen Saver.
• Change the Screen saver to Blank.
