  1. Windows won't start. No CD. No safe mode. No options to reset/restore/uninstall updates....

One night my laptop running Windows 10 was fine. The next morning it started to the blue "Choose keyboard language" screen. After that it takes me to advanced options or shut down.

When I plug my charger in and start it, a warning that "A 90W AC power has been detected, which is less than the recommended 130W adapter originally shipped."

**It is still the factory charger I've always had** But if the charger has gone bad would that prevent everything mentioned here?

If I hit F2 I'm taken to a "Phoenix SecureCore Tiano Setup screen" Not sure what to do with this besides look at the Boot options. The only Boot options are Windows Boot Manager and Network Boot. No Safe Mode can be found.

    Advanced options show:

Startup Repair - "couldn't repair your PC"

System Restore - "must specify which Windows installation to restore. Restart this computer, select an operating system, then select System Restore" I can't seem to figure out how to select operating system via these options

Command Prompt - tried several commands to reset, diagnose, etc and nothing I've tried so far works.

System Image Recovery - I admit I never created one. "cannot find system image" After Cancel, Next, Advanced...I can specify a network folder[?] or install a driver [also no clue]

Uninstall Updates - both uninstall of quality and feature update replies "We ran into a problem and won't be able to uninstall"

Those are my only options on this screen

    Commands I've tried:

bcdedit commands - "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The system has attempted to load or restore a file into the registry, but the specific file is not in a registry file format."

rstrui.exe - same system restore error message as shown above

    %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe - not recognized

    systemreset - not recognized

    :)

    HELP! windows won't start

    Just got home today,
turned on computer and windows won't start.

    What happens

    BIOS appears-
    loading asus express gate...
microsoft corporation (with small loading bar)

after the loading bar, a windows logo inscribed in a circle should appear and illuminate.
instead i just get a movable cursor on a black screen...

after a while it reboots and the process starts again.

I'm suspecting its the windows update my computer installed last night as it was shutting down.

Going into safe mode and restoring...hopefully this works.
I'm creating this thread from my dad's laptop ><

Any suggestion will be appreciated! *Cry

EDIT: i forgot to mention, the first time (blank screen for 5 min) ended in a quick BSOD and reboot.

    HELP! windows won't start

If it was an update, system restore to the point before the update would have fix it.

Try hitting F8 when the system is booting to bring up the options for safe mode, there should also be an option to disable automatic restarts, if it is still restarting on you. That will show you the blue screen causing the restart.
