Windows wouldnt boot on 2 week old xps 2in1 stuck in command prompt after goin to advanced...

My brand new xps 9310 2 weeks old was running extra slow and freezing wouldnt load word, open notification bar, or start menu. And said could find windows. Had to shut off manually. Then in reboot said it could load windows and i could exit to windows 10, reset pc, shutdown or troubleshoot. I went to advanced options and now stuck in command prompt screen. Super upset that this is already happening to a brand new computer. How to i get out of this screen!

    :)

  2. Stuck in Command Prompt

    Hi,

I wanted to run this command 'bootrec /fixmbr'

    I did the follwing steps:

Choose a option - Troubleshoot - Advanced options - Command Prompt

I did all the steps until Command Prompt, at Command Prompt I got this error message “ You need to sign in as…….but there aren’t any administrator account on this pc”. The laptop is stuck at this step. I restarted it a few times and it turned on in command
    prompt.

I found this on Microsoft community but for me it didn't work. I did the first step and it turned on directly in command prompt.

    Follow the below steps:-

    1) Press Shift and Restart from the power icon (together)

    2) Select Troubleshoot.

    3) Go to Advanced Options.

    4) Select Command Prompt.

    5) Type "net user Administrator /active:yes"

    6) Hit Enter.

How can I fix this in order to use my laptop?

    Thank you,

Installation media boots to command prompt

I've just booted from known working install media to see exactly what it does when booting. The sequence of events is...

    1. Windows logo on a black screen
    2. circling dots appear beneath the logo
    3. light blue 'Please wait' screen with circling dots
    4. a command prompt window (very briefly)
    5. the initial Setup page appears

Do you see steps 1-3? If so, it appears you have stopped at step 4, suggesting that something on the disc cannot be read.

Does the disc boot properly in another machine? If so, try cleaning the laptop's drive lens then try booting from the disc again.

If not, make new install media with Microsoft's Media Creation Tool, either as a bootable USB, on an ISO that you can burn to another disc. At Step 8 in Option One of this tutorial you can choose between making a USB or an ISO.

    Download Windows 10 ISO File

Windows wouldnt boot on 2 week old xps 2in1 stuck in command prompt after goin to advanced...

How does Windows boot to advanced recovery option e.g. command prompt?

    I have questions for you:
    1. if you open admin command, copy and paste: reagentc /boottore&shutdown /r /f /t 00
Does it boot into recovery ?
    2. Is the disk layout still look like the screen you posted in the other thread with 2 recovery partitions (450MB and 480MB)?

Windows wouldnt boot on 2 week old xps 2in1 stuck in command prompt after goin to advanced... [IMG]

According to suggestions from the thread, you changed from partitiion 5 to partition 1 with reagentc, which in my opinion is not correct. When you upgrade, windows creates an extra 450MB after C: and put a new Winre.wim there and set it to partition 5 (counting from left to right)
