Windows 10: WINDOWS WRITE PROTECTION ERROR

HI all

I have attempted via Google and other place to eliminate the above message. When It comes on the screen, I have to restart the computer, and it goes away for a few days, the message stay on the computer until I do restart, nothing gets rid of it.


I don't understand the process of elimination, and hope I can get a step by step solution please. Am using Windows 10 with all updates installed.

How To Format A Write Protected Flash Memory ?

Run CMD


1. diskpart
2. list disk

Then in the 3º step, put the correct number of disk in the list for the usb flash (if it's listed in disk 3, then you'll have to write select disk 3).

2. select disk #
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

with that commands you will format the flash drive in fat32, if you have a large drive you can select also "format fs=ntfs" in step 7.

Write Protection.

Hello everyone,

I am having a SanDisk Cruzer Blade 8 GB Pen Drive. It worked nicely for 2 years and then it suddenly shows the error message when I try to format the drive: The disk is Write Protected. I tries several ways:

• Registry editor (StorageDevicePolicies)
• Command Prompt
• Different tools etc.

I couldn't remove the write protection. Please help me on this topic.
