Windows 10: Windows10 10586 / 1511 upgrade fails on boot.

Ok, I'm pretty sure I know what's going on, but I don't know which commands to run to fix. So, Windows 10 runs into issues during the reboot portion of the upgrade. I think it's that the windows boot manager believes it's in the first partition on disk, while it's actually on the second. (I moved it to avoid Linux and Windows not playing nice on the boot partition)

I have two boot partitions MS_BOOT and BOOT. Since I moved the Windows boot manager off of BOOT(sdb1) to MS_BOOT(sdb6, was made later and moved to the second partition location in terms of locality. I tried Easybcd, but that only shows one of the boot partitions. So, I need to figure out how to list all the partitions in Windows. Disk Management doesn't show the partition names for the SSD the boot partitions and Linux are on. (only size)

The Windows boot manager has

>> device partition=\Device\HarddiskVolume1

I believe I want that to point to volume2 or 6. Not sure, which as I don't know whether the windows assigns letters to drives based on cardinality or locality.

There's two types of commands / third party programs I think I need. One for detecting partitions on all connected hard drives, and a second for changing where device points to. Anyone able to help?

Can't get Windows 10 November Update

Are you saying this works for Upgrade to Windows 10 Home, version 1511, 10586.

I am on attempt #3!! The malicious tool one failed to install at least 15 times. It finally installed and then the version 1511 failed!! I detest this method of downloading and sure miss the MS news groups!!!!!

 

Errors: "0x8024200d", "0xc1420127", "0x80131501" while installing Windows 10 Pro, version 1511.

Automatic update tried to update Windows 10 so many times with different error codes as below

"Failure Content Install Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8024200d: Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, version 1511, 10586.'

"Failure Content Install Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0xc1420127: Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, version 1511, 10586."

"Failure Content Install Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8024200d: Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, version 1511, 10586."

"Failure Content Install Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8024200d: Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, version 1511, 10586."

"Failure Content Install Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8024200d: Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, version 1511, 10586."

and so on and so on on on more attempts.

The latest error is

"Failure Content Install Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80131501: Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, version 1511, 10586."

I have tried researching all the internet responses to this problem but no solution works.

I am really frustrated now and would appreciate some HELP.

The only thing I understood about your post was the title. Mine does the same, We are not alone either

I don't have any partitions, just C drive

 

Hmm, how does yours fail? Mine finishes in the updater and fails when I restart. Thinking it might be from Moving the Windows Boot Manager.
